This policy explains what information Weekend Tech Projects ("this site") collects, why, and what you can do about it. The site is run by an individual hobbyist in Australia, not a company.
The short version
This site doesn't ask you to create an account, doesn't ask for your personal details, and doesn't sell anything directly. The only data collected is anonymous, cookie-free traffic statistics, plus whatever advertising and affiliate partners collect through their own cookies (explained below).
Information collected directly
Nothing, unless you send it. There's no login, no newsletter signup, and no account system. If you use the contact form, the message and any details you include in it are sent to the site owner and used only to reply to you.
PinTinker, the pin planner tool, runs entirely in your browser. The components you add and the pin assignments it produces are never sent to any server and are not stored anywhere. Close the tab and they're gone.
Analytics
This site uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits and see which pages are read.
It was chosen specifically because it is privacy-focused: it does not use cookies, does not fingerprint your device, and does not track you across other websites. It records only aggregate information such as page views, approximate country, referring site, and browser type. None of it identifies you personally, and none of it is sold or shared.
Cookies and advertising
This site may display advertising served by Google AdSense. Google's required disclosures apply:
- Third party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to your website or other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to your users based on their visit to your sites and/or other sites on the Internet.
- Users may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.
- Alternatively, users can opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalised advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info.
Where third-party vendors other than Google serve advertising on this site, they are disclosed here along with links to their own policies. At present, no other ad networks are in use.
Affiliate links
Some links on this site are affiliate links, meaning a commission may be earned on qualifying purchases at no extra cost to you. Clicking one may set a cookie belonging to the retailer so they can attribute the sale. Full details are on the affiliate disclosure page.
Your choices
- Your browser can block or delete cookies. Every major browser offers this in its settings, and doing so will not stop this site's articles or PinTinker from working.
- You can opt out of personalised advertising using the two links above.
- You can contact the site owner to ask what information is held about you, or to request that a contact-form message be deleted.
External links
This site links to other websites — datasheets, retailers, documentation, forums. Once you follow a link away from here, this policy no longer applies, and the destination site's own policies take over.
Children
This site is aimed at a general hobbyist audience and does not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes — for example, when advertising or analytics is actually switched on — the "last updated" date at the top will change to reflect it.
